Top Queensland real estate agents sparkle with baby joy

Top-selling Queensland real estate agents Simon and Courtney Caulfield have welcomed their first child and named him Krug – after one of the world’s most exclusive champagnes.

Born at Mater Mothers’ Hospital in South Brisbane just after 9am on Monday 8 January via a caesarean section, Krug weighed in at 3.1kg – about the same as two bottles of champers.

Simon is the director of Place Kangaroo Point, where his wife is lead agent. He said the couple had a few names picked out, but Krug was the most “unique”.

“Krug is the same name as the champagne house in France,” Simon said.

“We had a few names we had thought about, but we love the meaning behind the name Krug – a sign of strength and individuality.

“Courtney and I love our champagne and Krug Champagne is one of the most exclusive. The way they create their vintages every year is very special to us.”

Simon said that although he and his wife were career-driven, he had longed to one day be a father.

“Our pregnancy wasn’t planned but we are so blessed to have a happy and healthy baby boy,” Simon said.

“I am 36 years old now and when I look at Krug, I wonder why we waited so long.

“He looks just like his mum – he’s such a cutie. He has her nose and ears, and my eyelashes – that’s a pretty good combination!”

Simon said just days after giving birth, Courtney was back working on her computer and responding to property buyers.

“Courtney settled 23 apartments in the last six days before giving birth, and even attended an open home the night before she came to hospital – she is amazing,” he said.

Simon thanked the multidisciplinary team at Mater Mothers’ Hospital for caring for his newborn son and wife.

“The support provided is first-class and has made the experience amazing,” he said.
