We have added precautions to keep our women, newborns and staff safe as coronavirus (COVID-19) evolves. From Thursday 19 March, we will be restricting the number of people who can enter Mater Mothers’ Hospitals and will undertake routine health screening before entering. You can find out more information about our COVID-19 response here.

When you choose to have your baby with us, you can expect continuity of care from your chosen obstetrician who will work closely with our team of experienced health professionals. Together, we will provide personalised care and support every step of the way, ensuring the arrival of your newest family member is as safe, memorable and stress-free as possible.

Our maternity unit offers:

  • Six fully equipped birth suites

  • eight special care nursery cots

During your stay at Mater Mothers’ Private Townsville, you are guaranteed accommodation in a private room with an ensuite. Each private room has a modern and spacious decor, mini fridge, TV, phone, Wi-Fi connection and partner accommodation to ensure your comfort. Our room service delivers freshly prepared, nutritious meals direct to your bedside.

You and your family will also have around the clock access to the expertise and support offered by our caring team. The nurse station is only a short distance away should you require any assistance or advice, at any time, day and night.

Meet our obstetricians

You will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and a comprehensive selection of support services in one convenient location, including antenatal and parent education classes. Our onsite Special Care Nursery provides care to babies born prematurely from 34 weeks and not requiring ventilation.

If your baby requires more intense treatment, a transfer to the Townsville University Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) may be required. This decision will be made in consultation with you, the parent or care giver, and your baby’s paediatrician.

We love meeting our expectant parents and are happy to help with any questions you may have about your stay. If you would like to know more about our facilities, or request a tour, please call us on 07 4722 8866 today.
