Mater Mothers' First Aid for Babies classes

Mater Mothers’ Hospitals, in collaboration with Mater Education, is proud to offer a first aid course specifically for parents with babies at our South Brisbane and Redland campuses.

Would you know how to care for your baby in an emergency? Equip yourself with the knowledge and skills to protect your family with this hands-on, 2.5 hour first aid course for babies and toddlers. You’ll learn CPR and other vital skills to help you confidently identify, respond to and manage common infant injuries and emergencies, and recognise when to go to hospital.

Mater Mothers’ first aid for babies is taught by our experienced paediatric and neonatal nurses, and includes information on:

  • resuscitation (CPR) for infants and young children
  • choking
  • poisoning
  • burns
  • bleeding
  • fractures
  • febrile convulsions
  • breathing difficulties and illnesses.

Our course was developed by a highly qualified and experienced team including educators who train Mater’s exceptional staff, and is endorsed by clinicians working across both Mater Mothers’ Hospitals’ Neonatal Critical Care Unit and Mater Children’s Private Brisbane.

Cost

The course costs $90 per person or $160 per couple.

This includes a booklet and quick reference magnet. Mater Mums receive a second registration at half price, paying only $135 for two people to attend.

For further information and to make a booking, please phone Mater Mothers’ Parent Education team on 07 3163 8847 (select option 4).
