Mater Mothers Private Redland update

Like many private maternity services, Mater at Redland has been affected by the nationwide shortage of paediatricians.
Without paediatric cover, it is simply unsafe for any hospital to deliver babies.
Unfortunately, birthing services will cease at Mater Private Hospital Redland from 26 May.
This is a heart-breaking decision for Mater and for the team of midwives and nurses who have been caring for Brisbane’s bayside mums and babies for nearly 25 years.
However, the safety of babies and mothers must always come first.
Every mother planning to have babies at Mater Private Hospital Redland will be able to birth at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane, if that’s what they and their obstetrician choose.
We are so sorry to have disappointed those mums and would love to continue caring for them and their babies at South Brisbane.
