Parents can save big on their baby bills

Parents can save big on their baby bills

With the cost of living surging across Australia, the nation’s largest maternity service provider is launching a money-saving discount card to help parents manage the costs of a private birth.

The new Bundle of Joy card offers unique benefits and value for money to women giving birth at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane by bundling together Mater services and other additional costs that parents can expect to pay.

Parents who purchase the card can save hundreds of dollars off a range of costs, including routine ultrasounds, routine blood tests, hospital car parking and meals for dad.

Kathleen Goldsmith, Mater Mothers’ Assistant Director of Clinical Services, said Bundle of Joy had been designed with Mater families in mind.

“Having a baby can be a challenge for parents in so many ways – including financially,” Kathleen said.

“Mater’s Bundle of Joy card helps parents to reduce some out-of-pocket costs associated with giving birth that are not necessarily covered by private health insurance or Medicare.

“Every little bit helps when you are having a baby – and the savings we have bundled together for Mater parents add up to a lot.”

Mater Mothers provides Australia’s largest maternity service. Around 12,000 Mater babies are born each year – one in every five Queensland babies.

Mater is a not-for-profit healthcare provider and cares for both public and private families at Mater Mothers’ Hospital and Mater Mothers' Private Brisbane in South Brisbane.

“No one knows better than Mater Mothers what parents face when they have a baby, so we’ve put our heads together to come up with a great offer for families who want a private birth,” Kathleen said.

By purchasing the $490 Bundle of Joy card, cardholders will unlock access to:
  • Routine blood tests
  • Two routine ultrasounds
  • Hospital car parking for four consecutive days after the birth of baby
  • Partner meals for up to four days after the birth of baby
Cardholders also enjoy access to discounts on services such as parenting classes, breast pump hire, allied health services and special offers from Mater’s community partners.

To make the most of the card’s benefits, Mater recommends women purchase the Bundle of Joy card prior to their first routine ultrasound (at approximately 11 weeks into the pregnancy).
