Tuesday 16 October 2018
Becoming a parent is a beautiful experience—but it can also be overwhelming. At Mater Mothers, we understand that parenthood isn’t always easy, and it’s important to access support along the way.
The Mater Mothers’ Parenting Support Centre—offers early parenting support and guidance for new parents up to six months after the birth of their baby.
The service is free for all families and individuals with Medicare who gave birth at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane, Mater Mothers’ Private Redland or Mater Mothers’ Hospital. This means there are no out of pocket expenses associated with a patient’s initial appointment, or any follow-up appointments recommended as part of their individualised plan.
The centre provides a safe and supportive environment for families and individuals to seek assistance from experienced healthcare professionals as they adjust to their new role as caregivers.
The centre provides support and assistance across a range of areas including:
-
breastfeeding and feeding
-
sleep and settling
-
emotional wellbeing
-
infant interactions
-
adjusting to your new role as a parent/caregiver
A range of qualified healthcare professionals who specialise in the care of babies, mothers and families are available to support families and individuals across a variety of individualised appointment options.
Self-referral is required to access the centre, which is open from 8 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday; however the service is only available to parents who had their baby at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane, Mater Mothers’ Hospital and Mater Mothers’ Private Redland.
