Baby Freddie in a hurry to join Cowboy dad’s dream team

North Queensland Cowboys prop Jordan McLean and wife Brianna have welcomed their third son Freddie to the family a few days earlier than expected.

Baby Freddie was born via an emergency caesarean at Mater Mothers' Private Townsville on 14 November weighing 2.82kg.

Brianna said she was admitted to hospital after a routine scan just three days earlier.

“When they admitted me, I had to call Jordan to come straight in,” she said.

“Luckily, I had my bags already packed.”

Jordan who is looking forward to taking his newborn home said he could never get tired of meeting his children for the first time at their birth.

“Hearing Freddie's little cry when he came out was the best feeling ever,” he said.

Brianna, who is about to graduate as an enrolled nurse from Mater Education’s Diploma of Nursing, said she loved being a “boy mumma”.

“Having three boys is just the best,” she said.

Her two older sons, Archie and Texus, chose the name for their little brother at the start of her pregnancy.

“We didn't have Freddie on our list of preferred names because we weren't sold on it, but when he was born we couldn't decide on a name,” Brianna said.

“We went back to Freddie and thought it suited him perfectly.

“It's also my dad’s middle name - so it's special.”

Thankful for the care she and Freddie received in the Special Care Nursery at Mater Mothers' Private Townsville, Brianna said she was looking forward to going home to a house full of boys.

“I think we are definitely done with expanding our family and I can't wait to watch the big boys love Freddie - they've been so excited for him to come home,” she said.

Mater Private Hospital Townsville Interim Executive Officer Stephanie Barwick said it had been an incredibly special time for Freddie and his parents.

“It was an unexpected start for Jordan and Brianna with baby Freddie arriving a few days early, and I’m sure they are looking forward to going home and enjoying their time as a family of five,” she said.
