A wave of light throughout the world
Tuesday 23 July 2024
Each year all around the world on International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day, candles are lit to honour and remember a baby who has died. The result is a wave of light around the world.
At Mater Mothers, we are very fortunate to celebrate the joy of new life, but, unfortunately, among the joy there is sadness for those families whose pregnancy has resulted in loss.
On Tuesday 15 October 2024, we will host our annual Wave of Light Ceremony to compassionately remember, acknowledge and support those families who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or baby in the last year. Candles are lit to honour and remember them, and the result is a wave of light.
This year, the event will be held at the Claver Theatre, All Hallows' School, 547 Ann Street, Brisbane.
We welcome anybody within our community who would like to attend the Wave of Light Ceremony to please RSVP by Monday 30 September. RSVPs are essential due to venue capacity.
Please RSVP to avoid disappointment.
You are also welcome to follow and comment or post photos of your candles to our Facebook event, which you can find
here. You may also choose to use the hashtag #WaveOfLight.
Our thoughts are with all members of our community who have experienced a loss of a baby.
