Care and compassion offered close to home

Karalee mum-of-two Kristy Blauw understands the importance of having a trusted healthcare service close to home.
The young mum’s life was turned upside down eight weeks ago when her son Dominic—who has congenital heart disease—suffered multiple seizures and a stroke on the same day she was due to be induced with her daughter, Monique.
While Kristy takes Dominic for regular check-ups with cardiologists at Mater Children’s Hospital at South Brisbane, she benefited from having regular obstetric check-ups with Arrivals Obstetricians at Mater Health Centre Brookwater.
“I love the fact that Mater Health Centre Brookwater is so close to home as it makes life so much easier.”
Kristy, pictured with Arrivals Obstetrician Dr Shane Higgins, said she was comforted to know there were obstetricians specialising in high-risk pregnancies available so close to home.
“After the complications we had with Dominic, it was such a relief to be in the capable hands of the Obstetricians at Mater Health Centre Brookwater,” she said.
“I’m so happy with the care Dominic has received from the clinical staff at Mater— they always provide the best care and compassion."
Arrivals Obstetrician Dr Vincent Loh said patients in the area appreciated the convenience of the health centre.
“We have received positive feedback from patients about the convenience of Mater Health Centre Brookwater because most of their health care needs can be catered to in the same centre,” he said.
“Patients like Kristy definitely benefit from this centre; she has a young boy with a heart condition and it would be very difficult for her to have to travel to South Brisbane all the time.
