Mater miracles home in time for first Christmas

Five babies were born at Mater Mothers’ Private Townsville this week, just in time to celebrate their first Christmas at home.

The five Christmas miracles join more than 12 000 Mater babies born across Queensland in 2021 – Australia’s largest maternity service.

Second-time mum, Jade Walker said it was the most precious Christmas gift she could ever imagine.

“I just feel so lucky to be able to bring new life into the world during the festive season,” Ms Walker said.

“It is such a beautiful time of year, our family love Christmas, and with a new addition to the family it makes it all that more special.

“We can’t wait to get home with our new baby boy and celebrate our first Christmas together as a family of four.”

Mater Private Hospital Townsville Patient Care Manager Deanna Ward said there is no greater gift than new life brought into the world.

“It is always such a privilege to share the first moments of a newborn’s life with their family,” Ms Ward said.

“We are delighted to have welcomed five new babies into the world just in time for Christmas.”
