Working at his own practice, Dr Stephen Cattanach provides comprehensive obstetric care to his patients via Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane. He shares weekends with his covering colleagues, who together are known as the Mater Hill Private Obstetricians.

Despite his years of experience as an obstetrician and fertility specialist, which has seen him deliver thousands of babies, to Dr Cattanach, the miracle and wonder of new life never gets old. He originally wanted to be a rural GP, but when he did the mandatory OBGYN training during his medical degree, he fell in love with the work.

He is passionate about learning, and feels it is important to stay on the cutting edge of knowledge, technology, and more importantly, patient care. And so, recently, Dr Cattanach completed his Masters in reproductive medicine.

Married, with four grown children and a new grandchild, Dr Cattanach loves being a parent, and watching his children start their own life. And he loves being part of the start of this journey with his parents, counselling them through family planning and celebrating life goals with them.
