Dr Glenda McLaren graduated from the University of Queensland in 1983 and developed her love for obstetrics as a medical student at Mater. After four years of obstetrics and gynaecology training in the United Kingdom at St Marys’ Portsmouth, Dr McLaren returned to Mater Mothers’ Hospital as a Senior Registrar, completing her fellowship training in 1993.
Establishing her private practice in Spring Hill in 1993, Dr McLaren enjoys looking after all women throughout pregnancy and during their delivery and considers it a privilege to be involved in their care. In 2021, Dr McLaren launched Bloom Women’s Health, expanding the practice to offer comprehensive, holistic care across a lifetime of women’s wellness. Bloom Women’s Health provides access to a team of women’s health professionals, including obstetrics, gynaecology, physiotherapy, dietician, and midwifery. They are caring, experienced professionals working together to support women’s health and wellness needs.
As an Obstetrician, Dr McLaren has significant experience and interest in in high-risk obstetrics and complicated medical problems during pregnancy. Dr McLaren works with four other female obstetricians as part of the River City Obstetric Group, providing dedicated obstetric care and on-call 24 hours per day.
Dr McLaren also provides gynaecology services including menstrual abnormalities, recurrent pregnancy loss and colposcopy.
Dr McLaren has four children, including twins, and three of her children were delivered at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane.
Dr McLaren is a Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Queensland and has a Graduate Diploma in Law.
