Coming to hospital

During your stay with us, our midwives and nurses will provide education and information to enable you to confidently care for yourself and your baby in preparation for going home. While at Mater Mothers’ Private Mackay, you will have 24 hour access to our expert, caring midwives, nurses and clinical support team at the press of a button.

Where to go for admission

Admission during the day

For admission to Mater Mothers’ Private Mackay during the day, please present to the main entrance of the hospital at Willetts Road. If you can walk, please go to the main reception in the hospital foyer. If you are in strong labour and too uncomfortable to move from the car, or you need immediate assistance, please remain in the car and ask your support person to request urgent assistance at the hospital's main reception.

After hours admissions

If you’re coming to hospital after hours (between 10 pm and 6 am) please present to the Emergency Care Centre. There is a video intercom to enable you to contact the ward, who will remotely open the door for you. If you phone ahead and let us know you'll be coming into Mater Mothers' Private Mackay, we can arrange for someone to meet you at this door. The front doors to the hospital will be electronically locked between 10 pm and 6 am.

Accommodaton

McAuley House provides a comfortable, welcoming and convenient place for patients, carers, family and friends of patients to stay. We offer eight motel-style units and they are conveniently located within the grounds of the hospital.

We charge an accommodation fee to assist with the ongoing cost of running McAuley House. To find out more about the charges, please contact us. Full payment for accommodation bookings is due upon arrival. Bookings can be made in advance and must be confirmed two days prior to the stay. If accommodation is no longer required, please notify us as soon as possible. If you have any further questions, please contact us for further information.

Chapel

There is a Chapel available at Mater Private Hospital Mackay for all people to access for their own quiet time and reflection.

Visiting Hours

At Mater we recognise the importance of visiting your loved ones at times that are convenient to you. We encourage family and friends to visit patients between 12 pm to 1.30 pm and 3 pm to 8.30 pm, seven days a week.

Please note, to ensure patients have adequate rest and recovery periods, we promote a rest period between 1.30 pm and 3 pm.
