Neonatal Critical Care Unit
Each year, more than 2000 seriously ill and premature babies from across south east Queensland and northern New South Wales come to Mater Mothers’ Hospitals’ Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) at South Brisbane to receive around the clock specialist life-saving care from the team.
These babies—affectionately known as Mater Little Miracles—are cared for by our team of expert specialists, neonatologists, nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals within one of Australia’s largest Neonatal Critical Care Units.
Our team prioritises individualised, family-centred care for each baby—tailoring care to provide the best possible outcomes based on the individual needs of each baby—in an environment which supports their continued growth and development.
If your baby has been admitted to Mater’s NCCU, you can read more information about the unit including; what to expect while your baby is being cared for by our team, meeting your baby’s healthcare team, learning about special tests and terminology, as well as neonatal research opportunities.
