Channel Seven News Brisbane: Mater Mothers’ Develops Nappies

In a world first, a newborn nappy specially designed to fit newborn babies, has been developed by a maternity hospital—Mater Mothers’ Hospitals, Australia’s largest maternity service. Mater Nappies – Newborn First Weeks are used throughout Mater Mothers’ Hospitals and are now available for you to take home.

Mater Nappies are designed and created by Mater Midwives and mums. Mater Mothers’ Hospitals delivers more than 10 500 babies a year—during research and development of the nappies, we found 80 per cent of newborns weigh less than 3.5 kg and the traditional newborn size nappies don’t always fit for the first weeks resulting in leaks.

Proceeds from Mater maternity and baby care products go to Mater Little Miracles—a program that invests in research and clinical care for mothers and babies in Queensland and the rest of Australia.
