Volunteers wanted for Midwifery Program

Volunteers wanted for Midwifery Program

The Mater Mothers’ Antenatal clinic is looking for expectant mothers who are interested in having a student midwife accompany them on their pregnancy and birth journey.

The quality of the relationship between the woman and her midwife is central to the Mater Mothers’ philosophy and acknowledges that the foundation of midwifery practice lies in a one on one relationship between a woman and her midwife.

A key component of the course is the introduction and facilitation of the Continuity of Care experience, and is required for registration as a practicing midwife.

If you chose to be partnered with a student she/he will attend your antenatal visits, be with you while you give birth and in the initial postnatal period.

Throughout this program, the student is mentored by a Registered Midwife.

The benefit to you is that you develop a one on one supportive relationship, proven by research to be beneficial in positive pregnancy and birth outcomes.

All women attending the Mater mothers’ Antenatal clinic are eligible to be involved. All backgrounds, religions and cultures are welcome. Women can be supported through complex pregnancies as well.

If you’re an expectant mum and are interested in being part of the program, please discuss with your midwife during your next visit.
