After completing several years as a junior medical officer at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Will relocated back to Queensland and commenced training in obstetrics and gynaecology. Will cites the rare privilege of being present during a special life event, rather than a time of illness as one of the major reasons for pursuing a career in obstetrics. He says, that as an obstetrician, providing high quality care in the instances where critical decisions made correctly make important long term differences to families provides him with immense satisfaction and makes for a great day at work.
Will has developed interests in caring for women with high-risk pregnancies who have other medical problems or who have had complications in previous pregnancies. He is skilled at managing pregnancies for women who have previously had life changing adverse outcomes such as stillbirth, recurrent late miscarriage, fetal abnormalities or early preterm deliveries. Will believes that these women and families have specific needs and experience subsequent pregnancies differently.
